Greetings,
Great satisfaction comes with great accomplishments. For me the great accomplishment was finally figuring out how to download my sermons on to Youtube! I know it doesn't sound like much but I will take it. So for those of you who might have read my blog and have never heard me preach you now have that opportunity. The way it works is that you go to my website, not my blog, but my website at www.derekhutchison.com Go to the "extras" page on the site. Scroll down and you will see a picture of me preaching. Hang on because you are almost there! Below me you will see little Youtube icons with sermon dates below them. Click on the corresponding Youtube icon and you will be sent to a Youtube video of me preaching. Now, if you follow these directions precisely and it doesn't work my only advice is try it again! I have no earthly idea of what to tell you if it doesn't work. Hey, it took me two weeks to figure out how to get the stupid things on Youtube. So, if you want to hear a sermon try it out! If you want to read a sermon, well,,, I bet you could find many in the words of my blog! Either way, I hope you are blessed!
Blessings,
Derek

The Choices We Make
Greetings,
Once again it is a privilege to be a part of your day. Yesterday I preached a sermon about choices. In Matthew 22 Jesus speaks about "rendering unto Caesar what is Caesar's and unto God what is God's". Within this scripture Jesus makes it clear that we, as Christians, are called upon, daily, to make choices. Obviously, I am not talking about choices like what blouse you are going to wear today or whether or not today is a good day to change your underwear. Although, the underwear thing could be pretty important! The choices I am talking about are the tough choices in life. Choices like "What am I going to do today to serve Christ?"
I don't think any of us spend a lot of time on a daily basis thinking about questions like this one. But, isn't it one of the most important questions we can ask ourselves? If you think about it our answer to that question impacts so many other choices we make. If I am truly called to serve God then it matters where I go and what I do. If I have made the choice to show Christ to a dying world then what I say and how I say it matters. For too long man has separated the choice from the actions. For too long we have believed that what we say and what we do are two different things. We sit in our houses of worship on Sundays and choose to try our best to seek God's will and then we go out into the world and forget that will even exists.
Brothers and sisters, for too long we have convinced ourselves that because we believe in Christ means that we "choose" Christ. We are called to choose Jesus each and every day. Each day we rise with the morning is another opportunity to "choose whom we will serve". I pray that your choice will be Christ. For it is in our choices that we show our true selves to the world.
If you get a chance visit my web site at www.derekhutchison.com. I have had a blast playing around with it. Search the site and see if God speaks to you. I pray that he will!
Until next time, it's all about the choices!

Stepping Out
Greetings,
Over the past six months I have been feeling God encouraging me to broaden my ministry. I believe that he is encouraging me to share my story with others. Seeking to be obedient I have started a new website to make it easier to reach out to God's people. The Site is www.derekhutchison.com. Once you see the site you will realize that God may have blessed me with some gifts but web design is not one of them! Nevertheless, crude may it be, it does give people the opportunity to learn a little bit about me. It connects my blog My Journey Home, my Face book page, and Twitter pages. It also gives individuals, churches, or groups the information they need to contact me.
I have no idea if anyone would want to hear my story. I am not venturing out into this particular ministry on my faith in me but, rather, my faith in God. I am sure if their are people out there who need to hear my story God will guide them to me and/or me to them. I believe that God calls each of us to obedience to Him and that is what this site is all about. To tell you the truth I am scared to death that someone might, actually, contact me! I said I wanted to be more more obedient I never said I wasn't literally petrified while doing it!
Anyway, check out the site and shoot back suggestions. I would love to hear what you think of it. I will consider all suggestions that you might have to make the web site better. The only problem I might have is actually figuring out how to make those changes! I'll learn, it will take time, and lots and lots of prayers.
I pray that this adventure will bless God in a mighty way!
PS: Some of you get this blog on e-mail. I am glad it is convenient but every once in a while go to the blog and check out some of the changes. I know that some of the new links would bless your day! So, until next time!
Blessings,
Derek
